Have You Left Your First Love?

Women Drivers!

Here is a nice little clip of the very "best" ladies behind the wheel. Now before you get all up-in-arms, I'll be the first to admit that there are plenty of poor male drivers as well...I just can't name any off hand! Just kidding! Anyway, even you ladies would have to admit that this is pretty funny stuff. Enjoy!

12-year-old steals day with pro-life speech

Despite facing threats of disqualification, a 12-year-old girl took first place in a speech contest when she eloquently argued for the rights of unborn children – after an offended judge quit. You can read the rest for yourself or you can watch it below.

Obama - Mania???

The "One" is coming to Canada! It's enough to drive seemingly mentally stable people into a complete and utter foolish frenzy. It makes me wonder - Conservatives were always accused of being too closely tied to American policies; so why does the left want to so eagerly "jump into bed" now? I wonder...if the "One" tries to push Canada to stay in Afganistan past 2011, would you say OK? Just food for thought.

Honestly, I just don't get it - really, I don't. Apart from being the first African - American President (which is a wonderful thing), history will look back on this man's presidency as a failure. A bold statement? Yeah, I guess it is, but that's just me I guess. I really do pray that I am wrong, but...for anyone that knows me...I'm quite certain that I am not.

Our society has been in love with ourselves for far too long and the "True One" who raises up nations has always been watching. We live "Coram Deo" - before the face of God - and judgement has come. As a child of the King, I cannot look at this man as a blessing.

Forgive us Lord.

What He Must Be...If he wants to marry my daughter

Voddie Baucham has a new book coming out very soon! Based on the title and the fact that I have two daughters, it looks like another must have. I have nearly finished his previous book Family Driven Faith- which is excellent - so I am confident that this will be well worth purchasing. Here is an excerpt from the publisher:

Does it matter what kind of man our daughters marry? If so, how are we preparing them to choose the right kind of man? For those of us with sons, what are we doing to shape them into the kinds of men godly young women should be seeking?

In What He Must Be . . . If He Wants to Marry My Daughter, Voddie Baucham helps young women realize their dependence upon God and gain a better understanding of what they should be looking for. This persuasive, down-to-earth apologetic of biblical manhood gives practical, biblical advice for the whole family:

•Explores the dating / courtship question
•Helps parents understand their role in courtship
•Guides the discussion between parents and their children
•Provides a roadmap for raising sons who will make good husbands

We must not settle for less than what he must be!

I Have A Shelter

Yesterday I received a copy of "Come Weary Saints" by Sovereign Grace Music at the Toronto Pastor's Fellowship. Of course, I had just ordered the CD a couple of days prior because of their great February sale! That said, I grabbed the free one none-the-less to give to someone else. Anyway, the CD is excellent. For now my favourite track is entitled "I Have a Shelter". The lyrics are printed below and as an added bonus, you can download the song for free from Sovereign Grace Music!

I have a shelter in the storm
When troubles pour upon me
Though fears are rising like a flood
My soul can rest securely
O Jesus, I will hide in You
My place of peace and solace
No trial is deeper than Your love
That comforts all my sorrows

I have a shelter in the storm
When all my sins accuse me
Though justice charges me with guilt
Your grace will not refuse me
O Jesus, I will hide in You
Who bore my condemnation
I find my refuge in Your wounds
For there I find salvation

I have a shelter in the storm
When constant winds would break me
For in my weakness, I have learned
Your strength will not forsake me
O Jesus, I will hide in You
The One who bears my burdens
With faithful hands that cannot fail
You’ll bring me home to heaven

What is the Gospel?

Simple question? Well, not really. I came across this post by my brother Neilsen Unger and found it to be really helpful. Here is a sample:

The gospel is that for our sins, Jesus the Christ died, was buried, rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of God and is now King over His creation. The outgrowth of the gospel is the restoration of His people and creation into God’s Kingdom brought about by the messiah, Jesus the Christ. The nature of the gospel is imperial, meaning, it is the declaration that Jesus the Christ is King over all things. This King Jesus is greater than Caesar Augustus and His kingdom greater than the Roman Empire. The Kingdom of God is greater than the United Kingdom, United States or the United Nations. Those that accept His crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to God’s right hand on behalf of themselves because of their sin must repent, that is turn away, from their sin or wrong doing, and give allegiance to this King Jesus; those that do this, are restored into His kingdom, those that refuse to do this exiled from His kingdom and Himself.
